Gluck AJR and Clapton AJR threw a party for trainer Oberdan Pereira and breeder and owner Almir José Ribeiro by winning the UAE President Cup Series For Fillies Grand Prix and UAE President Cup Series For Colts Grand Prix respectively; that are part of the UAE President Cup South America Mondial Series for Purebred Arabian Horses, at Cidade Jardim Hippodrome, Jockey Club of São Paulo.
Five animals from four different owners competed in the first race, the UAE President Cup Series For Fillies Grand Prix, which was contested over 1,200 meters on turf for animals born in 2018.
After a start with all the fillies grouped together, Gluck AJR, daughter of Mared Al Sahra, and with excellent driving by jockey Wellington Ariel, opens on the outside and dominates the race from start to finish to win with 12 ¼ lengths of advantage and set a record in 1,200 meters on turf.
Second and third place were fillies Odessa Rach (Feitizzo Rach x Obsession Rach by Voltaire Rach) and Flicka AJR (Feitizzo Rach x Fascinacion by *Adventure Aladin) both trained by Oberdan S. Pereira.
“Gluck AJR once again shone by winning end to end in yet another great show. Our pupil, who is the daughter of Genna AJR one of the most outstanding daughters of Voltaire Rach, did not disappoint and set a new record for the distance of 1,200 m on the turf for females. An impeccable victory in her first participation in Grand Prix and second in two victories in two races”, declared the breeder and owner Almir José Ribeiro.
Trainer Oberdan Pereira commented: “Gluck AJR competed in two races and won both. With four animals in the race, I was sure she would win because she showed in practice that she was excellent and ready to win.”
“Gluck AJR trained on the turf this week and I was sure of their quality in the race. Right at the start she showed that she had the strength and breath to win and I managed to win the victory”, said jockey Ariel.
