Planning the Yearling

When preparing your yearling for sale, it’s important to plan each yearling individually and to group similar-formed yearlings together for different sales.

Planning the Yearling

The first thing you’ll want to do is make sure that your horse is healthy and in good condition. Be sure to check the horse’s teeth, feet and legs for any problems or defects. You should also get the horse’s vaccinations up to date before showing off your prized investment at a sale.

Grouping Similar Horses Together

If you have several similar-looking yearlings, you may consider grouping them together before taking them to an auction or showing them off at one of the many horse shows around the country. You might want to put them in groups based on color or height so that they all go home with someone who likes their look!
