Parfums de Marly’s latest fragrance, an oriental scent called Layton, witnessed a classic launch, where the 18th century, a time period integral to the perfumer, came alive in Dubai. As part of the perfume’s launch in the city, Parfums de Marly hosted an elegant lunch at the fashionable Satin Lounge, Nikki Beach which flaunted some timeless elements such as a menu titled “Table Royale Louis XV,” thus perfectly reflecting the contrast between the modern scent and the perfumer’s classic inspiration. During the event, professional dancers danced the passe-pieds with the guests after which attendees enjoyed an olfactive experience. With every creation, Layton included, Parfums de Marly continues to pay homage to its roots that have gained inspiration from the French perfumery style of the 18th century while simultaneously staying true to the essentials of the modern world.
Layton
The story? A sensual and scented composition infusing ease and nobility into the festive and harmonious atmosphere of the Versailles court.
The formula? Bergamot leads with its tangy passion, while lavender and geranium blend into a fresh note, chic and chivalrous all at once. The intensity rises from mesmerizing amber, enhanced by the natural elegance of a pink pepper. Distinguished and addictive, its character carried by vanilla and precious woods grows more powerful thanks to an intriguing note: a flavorful and fascinating hint of caramelized coffee.
The scent, as seen by its creator: “I imagine cascades of aromatic scents bursting from the royal fountains while racehorses in dazzling dresses set out to shine during the equestrian exploits of the age” highlights Hamid Merati-Kashani (Firmenich)
Unforgettable thanks to its addictive presence and unique appeal, this exhilarating fragrance fits within the great lineage of Parfums de Marly. Its bottle features the brand’s equestrian cabinets, embossed on solid and opaque glass. The captivating refinement of the fragrance establishes itself with majesty. Proud and velvety, like the night blue mat of its bottle, LAYTON radiates with a fragrant, sensual and mighty seduction.

Julien Sprecher, connoisseur and creator of Parfums de Marly, combines his love of horses with the history of France through a collection of rare and authentic perfumes.
“During the XVIIIth century, horses and perfumes were the pride and glory of the nation,” recalls Julien Sprecher. Among European monarchies, Louis XV’s court is largely reputed as “the perfumed court”. At Versailles, scents rule in style while Europe’s finest stallions thrive in the stud farms of France. In 1739, Louis XV commissioned Cuillaume Coustou to sculpt equestrian statues “The Horses of Marly” to further enhance the perfumed fountain, a main moment of the court.
Fragrant odes to an era where splendour was the symbol of ultimate beauty, Parfums de Marly’s creations pay tribute to King Louis XV’s two passions that dominated his life: thoroughbreds and pure perfumes.
Parfums de Marly’s collections create a unique world filled with signature scents. SEDBURY, MELIORA, HEROD, PEGASUS, DARLEY, ATHALIA, NISEAN boldly dive into captivating deep harmonies with a flair for exceptional raw material.
“Perfume is a time capsule. It has the power to take us on a journey. I have always loved this 18th century where horses and perfumes were the pride and glory of France,” says Julien Sprecher.
