Rafool Polo won the final tournament of the winter season at Santa Rita Polo Farm. Rafool Polo (Ray Rafool, -1, Santos Bollini, 2, Henry Porter, 4, Juan Bollini, 3) hung on for a 9-8 victory over Grand Champions Polo Club (Milo MacDonough, 0, Fran Spinacci, 0, Artemio Figueras, 0, Tomacho Pieres, 6), 9-8, in the club’s season-finale Limited Edition 8-Goal Tournament.
Santos Bollini was named Most Valuable Player. Mentirosa, played by Fran Spinacci, was Best Playing Pony.
“We had played before in two or three other tournaments and did okay but this tournament we got it together,” Rafool said. “We played very well as a team. We played them twice and all our guys were really just on top of it.
“At no time did we really feel we were out of the game,” Rafool said. “They got some quick ones when we started. After that we started going down, adjusting our game and playing hard. Our play was very aggressive and very precise. We played very well as a team. The passes were good and we started talking more in the second half. It really was a very good game.”
