Dubai Racing Carnival Returns to Meydan for a New Season of World-Class Racing
The countdown is officially underway for another season of world-class horse racing in Dubai, as Meydan Racecourse prepares to welcome leading horses, trainers and jockeys for the 2026–27 Dubai Racing Carnival.
The new Carnival begins on Friday, 6 November 2026, with 16 race meetings scheduled through March. According to the Dubai Racing Club, tickets are now officially on sale, marking the start of preparations for one of the most important periods in the UAE racing calendar.
For racing followers, the Carnival once again provides the road to one of the sport’s biggest international occasions: the Dubai World Cup.
International Racing Returns to Meydan
The Dubai Racing Carnival has developed into an international meeting point for leading owners, trainers, jockeys and racehorses.
International runners will again be a major part of the upcoming season, with competitors seeking important victories and potential places on the Dubai World Cup card.
The wider UAE racing season will feature 64 meetings across five racecourses, according to the Emirates Racing Authority. Meydan will host 17 meetings overall, alongside racing at Abu Dhabi Turf Club, Al Ain, Jebel Ali and Sharjah.
The programme demonstrates the depth of racing in the Emirates, covering both Thoroughbred and Purebred Arabian competition.
Three Major Nights at Meydan
Three feature meetings will provide major highlights during the Carnival.
Festive Friday takes place on 18 December, followed by Fashion Friday on 22 January and Emirates Super Saturday on 27 February.
Emirates Super Saturday traditionally provides an important final preparation opportunity for horses targeting the Dubai World Cup meeting.
Meydan is also expanding the race-day experience beyond the track. The Dubai Racing Club’s latest announcement confirms new restaurants and hospitality concepts for the upcoming season, while popular experiences including the Parade Ring Lounge and Finish Line Brunch will return.
Behind-the-scenes stable tours are also scheduled to return from October, giving racing enthusiasts an opportunity to see another side of life at Meydan before the Carnival begins.
The Road to the 31st Dubai World Cup
Everything ultimately leads towards Saturday, 27 March 2027, when Meydan hosts the 31st running of the Dubai World Cup.
According to the official Dubai Racing Club horsemen information, the Dubai World Cup card will comprise nine elite races offering a combined US$30.5 million in prize money.
The centrepiece Group 1 Dubai World Cup, sponsored by Emirates Airline, carries a purse of US$12 million and is expected once again to attract leading international contenders.
Dubai’s international racing credentials have continued to strengthen. Last season, 130 overseas-trained horses competed at Meydan, representing more than 20 percent of Carnival runners, while international winners represented five different countries.
As the UAE prepares for another busy racing season, Meydan will once again become a meeting place for some of the sport’s most recognisable horses and racing connections.
From the opening Carnival meeting in November through Festive Friday, Fashion Friday and Emirates Super Saturday, anticipation will steadily build towards the Dubai World Cup.
