After a first weekend behind closed doors, where Europe’s best riders and horses found their bearings, this week the HUBSIDE JUMPING is allowing them to reunite with… their spectators! Now the show is open to everyone from Thursday to Sunday and will host an exceptional line-up of stars. Admission to the show is free of charge.
A shared passion
There was every reason to be enthusiastic last week during the first weekend of the HUBSIDE
JUMPING de Grimaud, the first very high-level show organised in Europe since March. The riders
and their teams were enthusiastic, as were the media who offered the CSI 1, 2 and 4-star shows
coverage worthy of a CSI 5*, as were the viewers who widely followed the classes broadcast live on
social networks and on the site of the event’s partner, Grand Prix TV.
This week, the public is invited to come and share their passion and enjoy the show on site, at the
Haras des Grillons de Grimaud, with the greatest riders, in accordance with the health rules still in
place. Admission to the HUBSIDE JUMPING continues to be free of charge, in line with its objective
of showcasing a discipline and its champions to as many people as possible.
As for the competitors…
…It’s almost the same line-up, with a few exceptions even so. The Swiss star Steve Guerdat and
his German counterparts Marcus Ehning and Christian Ahlmann are taking a week off from their
schedule in Grimaud, and will be back next week, for the CSI 5* show. The CSI 5* line-up is
progressively taking shape and the master list promises to be ex-cep-tio-nal! Almost 75% of the
riders in the World top 30 may well be present at the HUBSIDE JUMPING de Grimaud next week!
But for the moment let’s focus on this weekend’s CSI 1, 2 and 4* shows. The majority of the riders
present last week have extended their stay on the French Riviera such as the French Olympic team
gold medallists Pénélope Leprévost, Kevin Staut, Roger-Yves Bost and Philippe Rozier. Their fellow
countrymen, Simon Delestre, Marc Dilasser and Julien Epaillard among others, who distinguished
themselves in last week’s classes as competition resumed, will also be present.
As for the foreign riders, spectators will also be able to count on Australia’s Edwina Tops-Alexander,
the Belgian European team gold medallists Jos Verlooy and Grégory Wathelet, the Netherlands’
Maikel van der Vleuten, the winner of last week’s 4-star Grand Prix, Switzerland’s Martin Fuchs, the
World no.2, Sweden’s Henrik von Eckermann and America’s Laura Kraut.
They are making their entrance in Grimaud, to prepare for next week’s CSI 5*.
A few new names will be featured on this week’s master list, but what exceptional names they are!
Germany’s Daniel Deusser, the current World no.3, the winner of the 2014 Longines FEI Jumping
World Cup Final in Lyon, will be kicking off his international season again on the French Riviera, as
will be Pieter Devos, the current World no. 4 and European team gold medallist. The World no.6,
Sweden’s Peder Fredricson, the Olympic individual silver medallist and the 2017 European individual
gold medallist, will discover the facilities at the Haras des Grillons de Grimaud which are appreciated
by his colleagues. Scotland’s Scott Brash, World no.9 and a regular at the show will make his
comeback; with Hello Senator, the rider won the last 4-star Grand Prix at the 2019 HUBSIDE
JUMPING. America’s Jessica Springsteen, another rider who has been successful on the French
Riviera, will be taking part in the CSI 2* and 4* shows during the second week of competition in
Grimaud. Last year, she won the Saint-Tropez leg of the Longines Global Champions Tour a few
kilometres from here. So, half of the World top 10 and half of the World top 20 are expected at the
HUBSIDE JUMPING from Thursday onwards.
