Record 11-time UAE Champion Jockey Tadhg O’Shea conjured a stellar ride as Laurel River raced to a commanding victory to land the prestigious $12 million Group 1 Dubai World Cup at the Meydan Racecourse on Saturday night.
Saddled by Bhupat Seemar and owned by Juddmonte Farms, Inc, the six-year-old from Into Mischief, won by a massive margin of eight and a half lengths over last year’s winner Ushba Tesoro. And it was a double on the night for the pair of O’Shea and Seemar after the duo had won the $2 million Group 1 Dubai Golden Shaheen, run over 1,200 metres, with Tuz, earlier. The winning combination had finished second in the $1 million Group 2 Godolphin Mile, run over 1,600 metres, with Walk Of Stars.
