Clapton AJR sets record of 10 wins in 13 races and fifth consecutive victory by winning Grande Prêmio UAE President Cup Series For Colts & Fillies VII; and is recognized as the best horse in Arabian horse racing in Brazil.
After the winning era of Atentaddo VE (Wonderful Boy x Dahaby NA by *Padrons Image) at the beginning of Arabian horse racing at the Cidade Jardim Racecourse, Jockey Club de São Paulo, Clapton AJR, son of Group I race winner Mared Al Sahra (x *Cowboys Gal by Wiking), is crowned the big winner in Cidade Jardim.
By winning the Grande Prêmio UAE President Cup Series For Colts & Fillies VII, contested over 1,400 meters on turf for males and females 3-years-old and older, with a 2 ¼ lengths advantage over Omega Rach (*Uzbek Du Lion x Orchestra Rach by Vaillant Rach), winner of the Prêmio UAE President Cup Series For Colts & Fillies VIII held on December 2, Clapton AJR wins the position of best animal in Arabian horse racing in Brazil in 2023.
In the thirteen races he competed in, he finished 10 first places, five consecutive victories and three second places.
“With this victory, Clapton AJR writes his name in these 10 years of Arab racing in Brazil with a record of 10 victories, five consecutive, and confirms that he has the blood of the great champion Mared Al Sahra in his DNA. I want to thank H.H. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Khalifa Al Thani, owner of Al Shahania Stud in Qatar, for the partnership and trust and announce that our champion ends his racing career and will be sent for breeding future champions”, declared breeder and owner Almir José Ribeiro.
“I’m very happy with the victory, as it was the first time I rode Clapton AJR. He is an exceptional horse who knows the way to victory”, said jockey A. Siqueira from Paraná.
Among the nine animals that competed in the Grand Prix, highlights include the half-sisters daughters of *Uzbek Du Lion: Normandia Rach with three victories and third place and the runner-up Omega Rach, who won the race in early December; and RG El Bak (RG Karat x *Endora by Wojslaw) with four wins.
Trainer Oberdan Pereira said: “This victory and this record in victories is the result of teamwork and, mainly, of this fantastic horse Clapton AJR who is now going to breed and who will give us future champions in the coming years.”
Almir José Ribeiro, racing director of the Arabian Horse Breeders Brazilian Association (ABCCA) commented after the race: “We closed the year 2023 with an excellent race at the UAE President Cup South America Mondial in Cidade Jardim with our best Arabian horses that shone and enchanted all those who watched.”

In addition to the prizes during the races, all horses participating in the 2023 Race Calendar also participate in the Racing category at the Arabian Cup 2023, promoted by the Arabian Horse Breeders Brazilian Association.
